More than 50 years of Volvo tuning leaves a trail
Over the years, a huge number of Timos Motor parts have made their way out into the real world.
They have ended up in street cars, race cars, rallycross and rally cars, drag builds, folkrace cars, boats and all kinds of engine projects. Some are still out there and in use today. Other engines have been rebuilt several times, cars have changed owners, and some projects may no longer exist at all.
But the photos and the stories are still out there.
And I want to find them.
With the new Timos Motor website I am building a new Gallery and continuing to develop Wall of Legends. I want it to preserve some of the history created over the years by the people who actually built, raced and drove with Timos Motor parts.
This is not a general gallery for Volvo photos.
There is one simple requirement:
The car, boat, engine or project must have – or have had – at least one Timos Motor product fitted to it.
Beyond that, it matters far less whether the photo was taken last week or 25 years ago.
I know the photos are out there
I have an entire wall of photographs that was rescued from the old workshop in Haninge. I will start digitising that material and publishing it in the Gallery.
And over the years, a lot of engines, cars, parts and people have passed through Timos Motor.
That is exactly why I know there is far more material out there than I still have myself.
Over the years I have seen photos from dyno sessions, engine builds and garages. Street cars ranging from clean to completely wild. Race cars that were driven hard season after season. Engines and cars into which someone poured an enormous amount of time and attention to detail.
Some of them I still remember.
Some I have probably forgotten.
And naturally, I do not have all of that material myself.
It is scattered among old and new customers.
On old computers and hard drives. On phones and memory cards. In photo albums and boxes of prints. On video, and perhaps even on old VHS tapes from events such as the Volvo Cup that somebody still has tucked away.
That is the part of Timos Motor history I want to bring together.
Long-time customers – dig through your archives
Did you buy parts from Timos years ago and still have old photos?
Send them to me.
They do not have to be perfect photographs.
An old, slightly blurry paddock shot can be far more interesting than a perfect studio image if it tells the story of a build from years ago.
A photo of an engine halfway through a build can be every bit as interesting as the finished car.
If you have photos or video from the garage, paddock, drag strip, rally stages, folkrace track, dyno or out on the water, I want to see them.
What matters is the connection to Timos Motor.
Maybe it has a cylinder head, cam gear, exhaust manifold or another part that came from here. Maybe the entire engine was built around several Timos Motor parts.
Then it is part of the story.
And this is not only about old material.

Then I want to see what you have built as well.
Take photos.
Shoot video.
Send me a garage photo while the project is still coming together, or a video of the car, boat or engine actually being used.
It does not have to be the most expensive build, the shiniest car or the engine with the biggest power figure.
What interests me is what people have actually built with the parts.
Long-time Timos Motor customers – start digging through those archives.
And if you are running my parts today: do not forget the camera.
If you have photos or video from the street, garage, circuit, drag strip, rally, folkrace, dyno or water, and the build contains at least one Timos Motor product, I am interested.
If possible, tell me:
- what car, boat or engine it is
- which Timos Motor part or parts are fitted
- roughly when the build or photos are from
- some engine specifications, if you have them
- power figures, times or competition results, if relevant
- and above all, the story behind the project if you would like to share it
You do not need to write a polished feature yourself.
Send me the material and the information – I can put the presentation together.
Somewhere out there are undoubtedly countless photos I have not seen for years, plenty I have never seen at all, and above all material that most other people have never had the chance to see.
I want to bring that material back because it is history worth preserving – especially at a time when we are increasingly being pushed towards electric cars…
Because this is not only the history of the parts made and sold through Timos Motor.
It is the history of what you built with them. 🏁
And later, you will have your own Garage
Until My Garage opens, I will publish submitted cars, boats, engines and projects in the Gallery myself.
But that is only the first step.
Further down the road, you will be able to manage your own builds directly through My Account on Timos Motor.
You will be able to add and update photos, engine specifications and information about the build, allowing the presentation to evolve along with the car, boat or engine.
A build will not have to remain “finished” just because it was published once. Change the turbo, rebuild the engine, make a new dyno pull or take the project in a new direction, and you will later be able to return to My Garage and update the story yourself.
Until then, we will keep it simple:
Send the photos and information to me, and I will publish the material in the Gallery.
When My Garage opens, you will be able to take over and continue building your own presentation through My Account.
Because just as yesterday’s photographs are part of Timos Motor history today, today’s builds are tomorrow’s history. 🏁
And this is where Piston Like comes in…
When I started building the new Timos Motor website, I did not want to simply drop old and new photos into a static gallery and leave them there.
The material should live on.
So I built my own Piston Like.
Instead of the usual heart or thumbs-up, this is Timos Motor – so naturally, you get a piston.
When you find a car, engine, boat or old racing photo you like, you can give it a Piston Like – and the piston responds.
When My Garage opens, the same idea will carry over there. Other people will be able to appreciate the build you have posted and follow it as it develops.
It is a small feature on its own, but it fits the idea behind the whole project rather well.
An old photo that spent 20 or 30 years forgotten in an album or on a hard drive can suddenly be seen again.
Someone recognises the car.
Someone remembers who drove it.
Someone may even have been standing in the same paddock when the photo was taken.
And someone hits the piston.
That is when the history comes alive again.
So dig through those old hard drives, photo albums, VHS tapes and phones.
And if you have something really good from back in the day – for fuck’s sake, don’t throw it away.
It may well be a small piece of Timos Motor history that deserves to be seen!
